I just bought a DVD+RW drive. Sifting through all of the options was a little confusing because I had not taken the time to read up on what is available. I essentially chose the format that is most compatible with my other devices (notebook PC DVD and video DVD player). As this article states, the move by Apple really does not have much impact. Rarely does any decision by Apple have much influence on overall standards. They're simply enabling a capability in their hardware that was disabled.
